(fast) nichts an

Solo Exhibition

Vlad Dobre

Photographer | *1997 in Bucharest lives and works in Vienna

In his complex visual worlds, Dobre concentrates on the field of tension between art, fashion and the Viennese queer scene. The focus is on the desire to make the extraordinary tangible in perceptions and moments.

His first solo exhibition, (fast) Nichts an, shows Dobres photographs taken over the past year.

Photographs whose primary core could lie in nudity and yet it is rather the transported feeling, the perception of being naked, than the exposure itself that is expressed in his pictures. The moment of escaping reality in the (inner) struggle against social norms, the identification and self-identification that arises from such positioning are in the centre of Dobre's work.

Taking off one's clothes and closing one's eyes allows his subjects and us to flee into spheres that cannot be felt or reflected upon with one's eyes open.

Yet those photographed are always more than people.

They are wishes, ideals. With a lightness that does not seem to be of this world. For that is what we can be as soon as we close our eyes: Free and naked and not of this world. All that we may be.
